Nino Beauty has identified select high-end, best-selling products with appeal to an American clientele. From Glow Pack CO2 facial masks to antioxidant green teas, you can now share the J-Beauty secrets enjoyed by the most discerning Japanese women.
The founder of Nino Beauty, Rikki Ninomiya, is a third-generation Japanese American from Oregon, based in Tokyo. After twenty years of importing beauty products from America and Europe to Japan, Rikki decided it was time to bring high-quality, niche brand Japanese cosmetics to the United States. Rikki’s extensive network in the industry has helped her identify Japanese brands not widely available elsewhere. These cutting-edge products, developed by cosmetic experts and scientists in bio-technology, as well as phyto and aroma therapy, represent some of the most innovative, natural, and effective products available.
Rikki teamed up with Yoko Riesen, a native of Tokyo with an extensive background in consulting for Japanese cosmetic companies, now living in Santa Monica, California.
With their combined expertise, Rikki and Yoko are in the perfect position to identify and help introduce top of the line, niche brands from Japan to an American clientele. Please join Nino Beauty’s mailing list to receive the latest information on new products and special offerings.
Rikki was born in Portland Oregon and studied at Harvard University (Master’s in Education), before moving to Tokyo to work in television and film production, as well as magazine licensing. She began working in the skin care industry as a consultant for Matsukura Clinic, a prominent plastic surgery and dermatology clinic in Tokyo.
In 2003, she established MRi (Medical Research International) to offer the latest medical technology and treatments to doctors and beauty professionals in the field of anti-aging, eventually becoming a leading importer and distributor of various overseas skincare and esthetic treatments. MRi is now the exclusive Japanese distributor of such industry leaders as jane iredale and RevitaLash. In 2020, Rikki launched Nino Beauty to introduce J-Beauty to the United States.
Although Rikki frequently visits the United States, where her family resides, she lives and works full-time in the Omotesando neighborhood of Tokyo, where she and her Yorkshire Terrier Einstein are frequently seen walking and visiting the sidewalk cafes of this fashionable area.
In many ways, Yoko’s journey has reversed Rikki’s path, taking her from Japan to the West Coast of the United States. A graduate of the prestigious Waseda University (Juris Doctor), Yoko’s career path included work in the television industry, as well as business development and public relations work for the well-known Japanese entertainment firm, KONAMI.
Yoko was a finalist in the Mrs. Nippon Grand Prix competition, and later worked as a consultant for Miss Earth Japan and other beauty competitions. Yoko drew on that experience, as well as on her training as a Pilates and Facial Yoga instructor, to develop her own method for beauty and skincare that is anchored in the health of both body and mind.
In 2017, she relocated to the United States and now lives in Santa Monica with her husband and young daughter. Her hobbies include belly dancing, Argentine tango, and enjoying visiting the boutiques and outdoor cafes in Santa Monica with her family and friends.
